Today a horde of gay barbarians descended upon Michele and Marcus Bachmann's "pray away the gay" clinic and demanded that Marcus come out and discipline them for their "deviant" behavior.
Marcus Bachmann, who conducts "reparative therapy" at the clinic intended to convert homosexuals, has said that gays are "barbarians who need to be disciplined." The horde requested to speak directly with Bachmann and experience some "discipline" for themselves.
When Marcus was no where to be found, the barbarians glittered the empty waiting room and reception area while chanting, "You can't pray away the gay -- baby, I was born this way!"
The action was organized by the same young man who threw glitter on Newt Gingrich, starting a national trend in political protest of anti-LGBT sentiments from political candidates and campaigns.
"Michele and Marcus Bachmann think gay people are barbarians?" asked LGBT activist Nick Espinosa. "I think its clear to everyone who the real barbarians are, based on the Bachmanns' archaic views on LGBT equality."
A Controversial Past:
Michele Bachmann has a long history of controversial anti-gay politics, and has compared the gay lifestyle to "bondage and slavery." In 2005, she was infamously caught lurking in the bushes during an LGBT rally. That same year, she attempted to file a police report when two constituents -- a lesbian and an ex-nun -- tried to talk with her about marriage equality following a townhall event. The police department refused to file a report, citing that she was in no danger.
Her anti-gay views have been a focal point of her career as a politician, but lately she has shied away from reporters' questions about her controversial comments and taxpayer-funded "reparative therapy" clinic. While Michele Bachmann has long railed against federal safety net programs like Medicaid, the Bachmann & Associates clinic has received over $137,000 in Medicaid funds and over $27,000 in other state and federal funds.
Last week an undercover investigation confirmed that the Bachman's clinic is, to this very day, providing discredited "ex-gay" reparative therapy.
For years the scientific and medical communities, including groups like the American Psychology Association, have dismissed "reparative therapy" (also known as "conversion therapy" or "ex-gay therapy") as dangerous and unethical.
"Its time for Michele Bachmann to stop running away and to take responsibility for her destructive clinic. She, of all people ,should not be abusing medicare and wasting taxpayer dollars to practice quack science that endangers her patients," Espinosa said.

Bachmann: T-Paw left 'a multi-billion-dollar budget mess' plus more . .

For his part, T-Paw, reports the AP, fired back: “Pawlenty spokesman Alex Conant said, "The difference is that when Governor Pawlenty was scoring conservative victories ... Congresswoman Bachmann was giving speeches and offering failed amendments, all while struggling mightily to hold onto the most Republican house seat in the state."
Way over in Poughkeepsie, Chuck Raasch at the Poughkeepsie Journal writes about driving through Minnesota during The Shutdown. Eventually he says: “In a vigorous democracy people argue about the amount of taxes they are willing to pay to build and maintain roads that get them to the lakes. But in the protracted, nasty budget and deficit fights here and nationwide, some have shorthanded ‘the government’ into the enemy of the people. Some always seem to wish for shutdowns to show government is unneeded. Real reasons exist to think government at all levels has gotten too big. But equally destructive is this idea of government inherently as enemy. It makes the people the foes of their own commonwealth. Such positions make it that much tougher to decide what is essential, and how to do it the best. It lets politicians dig in on campaign pledges [that] are not practical to solving issues in a diverse country. While we try to bury debts and deficits, maybe such absolutes can be buried with them.” Hmmm, “equally destructive”?

Well, after taking digs from T-Paw for most of the last couple weeks, Our Favorite Congresswoman has dropped all pretense of observing the Republican 11th Commandment and blasted away. L.A. Holmes of FoxNews reports: “In a campaign email to supporters Sunday afternoon, Bachmann defended her ‘real world’ successes and excoriated Pawlenty for ‘leaving a multi-billion-dollar budget mess’ in Minnesota, which led to a government shutdown in the state early July. ‘Real world actions speak louder than the words of career politicians,’ the statement concludes. ... In the middle of it she also says, “I bring a record of success in the real world in business, the law, and in fighting for our principles. I am self-made. I worked my way through school. I have a post-doctorate degree in federal tax law from William and Mary. I worked in the US Federal Tax Court as a federal tax litigation attorney. I am a job creator. My husband and I built a successful private company from scratch. In Minnesota, I led an unprecedented effort to reform education —repealing intrusive regulations that hampered the ability of parents and educators to provide a quality education for their children.” As woozy as I always get when she starts talking about “the real world,” I have to wonder, given Pawlenty’s poll numbers, why she’s even mentioning him in public?
T-Paw’s real high point of the weekend, though, was going on CNN and, according to the AP, saying: “If you're the leader of the free world, would you please come to microphone and quit hiding in the basement about your proposals, and come on up and address the American people? Is he chicken?" Why am I thinking of Albert Brooks in “Broadcast News”?
A note on the other downside of selling bonds backed by tobacco revenue to resolve the budget stand-off. The AP’s Scott Karnowski writes: “The budget deal that ended Minnesota's government shutdown relies heavily on $640 million borrowed against money from the 1998 tobacco settlement. The strategy allows Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton and Republican legislative leaders to avoid the same amount in spending cuts or tax increases. But it could cost as much as $640 million in interest — plus a substantial annual revenue loss for years to come.” Hey, better to blow $640 million than cripple a “job provider.”

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) at CPAC earlier this year. The billionaire Koch brothers, Charles and David, spread their money far and wide. They fundfree-market think tanks, right-leaning academic organizations, and conservative political advocacy groups, such as the Americans for Prosperity Foundation, whichhelped cultivate the tea party. The political action committee for the Kochs' massive conglomerate, Koch Industries, has also given generously to big-name conservative politicians throughout the country at both the federal and state level. But when it comes to the 2012 presidential race, the Kochs have been more selective with their giving, with only one presidential candidate so far benefiting from their largesse: Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.).
In late May, KochPAC, as Koch Industries' PAC is known, donated $10,000 in one day to Bachmann-linked committees—$5,000 to her 2012 congressional re-election committee and $5,000 to her political action committee, MICHELE PAC, according to the most recent records available. (That's short for Many Individual Conservatives Helping Elect Leaders Everywhere PAC.) The two checks weren't KochPAC's first contributions to Bachmann. According to federal campaign records, the committee has given $25,000 to the Minnesota congresswoman since 2006, excluding the May donation.
It's unclear whether KochPAC has also donated to Bachmann's presidential committee, which was created in June after she officiallyunveiled her candidacy. Her campaign has yet to report contributions and expenditures to the Federal Election Commission. But it is worth noting that Bachmann can, under FEC rules, transfer her congressional campaign funds into her presidential war chest, since she suspended her congressional fundraising operation last month. When Bachmann does reveal her latest fundraising haul, a large chunk of it is expected to come from her congressional campaign.
According to campaign records, Bachmann is the only Republican in the presidential race who has received any money from KochPAC in 2010 and 2011. In 2010, the committee did give $50,000 to Texans for Rick Perry, a PAC that supports Texas Republican Gov. Rick Perry, who is flirting with the idea of a presidential run but has yet to decide. Indeed, the only other Republican candidate with a history of KochPAC support is hard-line former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania. Between 1999 and 2005, federal records show, Santorum election committees received $16,000 from the committee.
Election Day, of course, is more than 15 months off, which is plenty of time for the Koch brothers to shower other GOP presidential candidates with cash. The candidate who previously appeared to closest to the billionaire brothers was former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. It's been previously reported that Romney counted David as a supporter;according to iWatch News, David and his wife even hosted an event at their Hamptons home last August in support of Romney. In April, Romney spoke at a GOP presidential cattle call hosted by Americans for Prosperity, the political advocacy group David founded. And in the last presidential election, David and his wife each gave the maximum $2,300 donation to Romney's campaign. (FEC records don't turn up any donations by Charles Koch to a 2008 presidential candidate.)
So far, Romney's been the most prolific fundraiser within the GOP field, netting $18.25 million in the second quarter of this year. Even so, he may be wondering if his own KochPAC check is in the mail.
