November 28th - Tell Obama NO! XL Pipeline!

Friends - I don't think we ever expected to be in this position.

When we started this campaign last summer, the odds were 1000 to 1 against us.

Thanks to you, we're in the middle of a real fight that we have a shot to win. After a big success like yesterday's action surrounding the White House, one of the main things we win is the opportunity to do more work together.

And that's exactly what we're going to do. According to the President's own rules, the first time he can make a decision about Keystone XL is in late November. At that point, we need to make it absolutely clear to him that he needs to stop this disastrous project.

Talking with folks in DC this weekend, over and over again I heard people tell me that they’re more than ready to continue this fight back home, so I'd like to propose we try something ambitious.

On November 28th, I'd like us to make visits to Obama 2012 campaign offices in all 50 states to tell them that we expect the President to live up to his promises and reject the pipeline.

We've aimed high at every step of this campaign, and once again I'm not sure if we'll be able to hit our target. But I think we can, and if we do, it will be an incredible show of power, power that the climate movement hasn't seen in a long while.

Our amazing organizing team is working out the plans now, but if you're interested in leading or attending an action near you, let us know at the site below and we'll be in touch about next steps very soon:  The office visits that have happened already have had an unmistakable impact. Campaign staff in local offices report up the chain of command to the political directors who will have Obama's ear when he makes the final decision. Putting people in offices in every single state (and DC!) will make it crystal clear that there is a huge group of people expecting the President to do what's right for the climate and stop this pipeline.

All of you are an inspiration.

Thank you, again and again. Bill McKibben
