Unions accused of being ‘hell-bent’ on strike action
7 Nov 2011
TREASURY Chief Secretary Danny Alexander has prompted fury from union leaders by accusing them of being “hell-bent on strike action” over public-sector pension cuts.
The LibDem Coalition minister threatened to by-pass union bosses and go straight to staff for talks about the revised pensions offer made last week.
Mr Alexander said: “I think most of the unions, the moderate unions, want to reach an agreement, but there are some who seem desperate – hell-bent if you like – on strike action.
