Protest to Demand the legislature & Gov. Dayton keep “Secure Communities” out of the MN budget talks
Tuesday, July 5th @ 1:00 pm @ MN Stat Capitol, St. Paul
Join us at the Capitol to send the message “No budget deal on the backs of immigrants! No more deportations in Minnesota!” In the last-minute late-June negotiations between the governor and the legislature to try to avoid a government shutdown, the legislature’s proposal to the governor from June 29 appears to include the Secure Communities deportation program as part of an overall “compromise” package deal. Gov. Dayton rejected their proposal, but clearly we need to keep up the pressure to make sure that attacks on immigrants are not part of the final compromise on the budget to end the shutdown. Info: No More Deportations campaign.
